Ohio Strain Review:
Blueberry Cheesecake

Blueberry Cheesecake Bottle

Packaging: First Impressions

We’ve previously taken a look at Wedding Cake, another Woodward Fine Cannabis strain. This bottle does not differ very much from that bottle, though the addition of “Minis” has been added to signify that the patient is buying popcorn nugs (or colas) instead of mid-sized or larger-sized colas. Buying a “Minis” bottle also means you save a few bucks overall, which makes this an ideal strain for those looking to penny-pinch.

The packaging itself is sleek and simple. Patients can see the cannabis they are buying, housed in an easy to open bottle. Once again, the only real fault here is the use of plastic. But until a more eco-friendly solution can be found to assist cultivators with better packaging, this will have to do. Thankfully, this bottle can be recycled, which is good. The bottle is also made with cheaper plastic, which makes recycling much easier.

Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle

Staring into the bottle, I couldn’t help but think of a morning frost, as if a fine glaze of frozen morning dew bathed across the surface of each cola. In this case, the morning dew is actually sticky resin from the surface trichomes.

Punching through the sea of frosty trichomes is a rich undercoat of lush, fern greens and pumpkin oranges. The oranges stand out in particular, like carrots in a field.

Bud colas in this bottle are pretty small, from about the size of a pea to the size of a marble. This may disappoint some. If you want to avoid mini nugs, it is best to stay away from any strain that states they have “popcorn” or “mini” nugs. Frankly, I don’t hold it against my cannabis if bud colas are small. So long as the active chemical compounds are there, smaller sized cannabis nugs should be just as effective as larger cannabis nugs.

How Does It Grind?

Woodward’s Blueberry Cheesecake grinds down pretty quickly, though the grind was a little on the sticky side. Patients with pain in their hands or fingers may want to ask a caretaker to grind this strain for them, though it shouldn’t be too touch to do on your own.

This strain yielded a lot of ground cannabis. I placed 5 pea-sized colas in my grinder to achieve about 3-3.5 bowls of cannabis for my vaporizer. Not too bad considering the smaller size of these colas.

Smell Before Vaping

Blueberry Cheesecake is right! The initial fruity bursts of this strain are perfectly complemented by the floral accents provided by the Myrcene terpene. Caryophyllene adds in a refreshing clove-like aroma that brings forward the citrus notes. All together, this strain emulates a sweet, fruity, cheesy aroma akin to blueberry or even strawberry cheesecake.

This opens up even further after grinding. If you leave your grinder open, be prepared for your entire room to fill with this delightful odor. That said, if you live in an apartment, you may want to stick to a smaller, more confined space to avoid a lingering odor on your floor.

Patients who enjoy a fruity cannabis strain should definitely give this one a try, along with Forbidden Fruit or Sundae Driver

The Taste Test

I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.

Blueberry Cheesecake doesn’t taste exactly as it smells, though that’s hardly a bad thing. I really tried to catch that flavor, too. But alas, I never quite got that taste. Rather, this bud is both delicate and smooth, with floral accents that are finished by lemon-scented clove. Just a hint of bitterness on the tongue after each exhalation.

In fact, this strain is almost like a glass of chilled hibiscus lemonade. Come to think of it, hibiscus lemonade would be an excellent treat to enjoy alongside this strain! I tend to prefer drinks that work with the cannabis, or add a similar flavor to bring out the terpene profile. A sweet dessert wine would also work very well.

If you’re looking for a gentle flavor and a robust aroma, Blueberry Cheesecake will be a delicious treat for your senses.

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

The medicinal benefits noted below are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

This Tier II flower comes from Woodward Fine Cannabis (Fire Rock Farms) in Akron, Ohio. It contains 28% THC and 30.68% THCA. It also contains 0.0% CBD and 0.10% CBDA. Generally, this strain is a 70/30 sativa-indica hybrid — a combination of Big Buddha Cheese and Blueberry.

Note: This strain is high in THC. Patients sensitive to this compound may want to consult an Ohio medical marijuana dispensary patient consultant before trying this strain.

Blueberry Cheesecake dialed right into my senses within moments of taking the first few hits on my vape bag. I felt a sense of relief and relaxation, followed by a mild delay in physical senses (sometimes an occurrence for me with higher THC strains).

Both of these feelings created a sense of wonder and creativity. Within moments, I was musing while listening to music and writing down ideas. I did find myself stumbling a little as I wrote, so patients should be aware to take it slow.

This sativa-leaning hybrid would likely be great for those who require a higher THC strain. It did wonders for relaxing tension down my back, and in my muscles.

In fact, Blueberry Cheesecake gave me that lively sense of energy one feels after a good massage. My skin was tingling and warm, my muscles calm but awakened. After a very stressful month, it was nice to unwind with such a delicately soothing strain.

Final Thoughts on Blueberry Cheesecake

Woodward Fine Cannabis does it again with this delightfully sweet, powerfully aromatic, potent strain that should ease the mind and body without couch-locking you, or causing jitters. For those looking for a good go-to sativa-leaning hybrid that’s also a little on the cheaper side, Blueberry Cheesecake should do the trick. Let us know in the comments below if you’ve tried this enticing flower.

As the death tolls rises to nearly two dozen souls, the vaping crisis has reached a media fever pitch. Health officials at the FDA and CDC are cracking down on vaping and vaping products.

Trichomes fill each bud cola, bathing the oranges and greens in a proverbial forest of frothy white and creamy yellows, accented by orange pistals (of which there are many). Green hues peak out every so often, but take a back seat compared to the color of the trichomes.
