Ohio Medical Marijuana Strain Review:
Buckeye Relief's Inception

Is This Strain A Dream Worth Remembering?

Buckeye Relief Bottle Details

Packaging: First Impressions

Buckeye Relief has gone through a few changes since they launched their product in early 2019. In fact, most bottles from this Eastlake, Ohio cultivator are actually white these days, with different labeling. But I still got hold on one of their classic black bottles, which will presumably be on the market for a just a few weeks longer.

The design is simple, almost generic compared to some of the other cannabis companies on the market, like Woodward Fine Cannabis. But that doesn’t really hurt or damage the contents inside. I do wish there were more details about testing on the bottles, and I’m not always the biggest fan of packaging that doesn’t allow patients to see what they are buying. But those are very minor issues. The bottle is functional, recyclable, and pretty easy to open. Simply squeeze the top and it pops right off.

Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle

Buckeye Relief’s Inception is a pretty nice looking strain out of the bottle. This cultivator took some flack from cannabis enthusiasts early on for having brittle cannabis. While I never got a bottle that seemed to have this issue, I saw it reported in a few different spaces.

Thankfully, like previous Buckeye Relief strains I’ve tried, this one was well cured — not too moist or too dry. Nugs in my bottle were on the larger side, about the size of a quarter, with only 2 or 3 smaller colas.

The buds themselves are coated in tasty trichomes that give this strain a nice, thick stickiness. Pistils have an orange sherbet hue, and are thinly laid out across the dark pine green landscape.

The sheer amount of trichomes really stand out here. There are so many! This strain almost looks like White Widow. Be sure to use a grinder than can capture any trichomes that fall off while grinding.

How Does It Grind?

I found Inception to be really tough to grind. After two dozen hard turns, I still didn’t have the best consistency for vaping. This is likely due to the number of trichomes on the bud, as well as the bud density and overall humidity of the plant cola.

Patients who struggle to grind cannabis should definitely consider asking a caretaker to help out with this strain. Even if you don’t struggle, you may want to give this one a few extra turns, or even break up the thicker leaves with your fingers.

Smell Before Vaping

Inception isn’t looking to stink up your space, so those who like a more conspicuous cannabis strain should consider this one. The terpene profile for this strain suggests a pronounced floral palette enhanced with rich earthy accents.

I was never stunned by the scent of this strain in that way, but that’s not a bad thing. Not every strain is meant to slap you in the face with an intense cannabis odor. This one is sweet, like cherries or grapes, with a subtle earthy undercurrent that reminded me of fresh green tea.

This aroma doesn’t fill a room as easily as some strains, like Riviera Creek’s Chocolope. But it does deliver a delicate scent that is sure to light up the senses.

The Taste Test

I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.

Inception is one of those strains that tastes almost exactly like it smells. In this case, patients will be treated to a sweet, subtle taste, followed by a tiny hint of pine, adding a peppery aftertaste. This is finished by a smooth floral accent, almost like fresh daisies.

This flavor is subtle, like the initial smell of the bud colas. It actually took me a few inhalations to really nail down the full palette of this strain. But once I decoded Inception’s tasty vape, I found myself intoxicated by the gentle, fluttery aroma. The peppery aftertaste really seals the deal, providing a spicy close.

A fresh herbal tea, red wine or even a frothy latte would be delightful with this strain, bringing out the lovely subtle flavors that Inception has to offer.

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

The medicinal benefits noted below are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

Inception contains 19.10% THC and 0.0% CBD. In all fairness, this is actually the third time I’ve vaped this strain. Inception was among the very first cannabis strains I ever purchased from an Ohio medical marijuana dispensary. And I’ve bought it a few times since then.

The reason is simple … I really like Inception. For inflammation, it does the trick. I find that it works wonderfully for relaxing joints and muscles, allowing for better movement.

Because this strain is a hybrid (indica-leaning), there is also a subtle, but enjoyable headband effect that slowly trails down the spine. This gets the creative juices flowing, all while providing enough energy for a few tasks.

I find that this strain is excellent about an hour or two before slumber. It can help you unwind and relax, but gives you a gentle boost for one or two more chores before slipping into bed.

Final Thoughts on Inception

Inception is my favorite Buckeye Relief strain. It can be a little tough to grind, but the end results are quite excellent. With a subtle aroma, and a gentle, sweet floral taste, Inception is sure to entice any Ohio medical marijuana patient looking to unwind with a good indica-dominant hybrid.

These syringes are more economical than disposable vape pens, slightly better for the environment.
