Butterfly Effect Cannabis Tincture Review

Relaxation ... here we come!

Review & Photos by: Randy Shaffer

Packaging: First Impressions

This high-THC cannabis tincture was cultivated and processed by Grow Ohio in Zanesville, OH. This product is sold under the brand, Butterfly Effect.

Packaging for this cannabis tincture is exactly as you’d expect it to be — a small box housing a glass bottle with a dropper for the medicine.

The box is quite lovely, with shimmery silver text and an elegant butterfly logo. Details are a bit scant on the box, so you may want to open it and examine the bottle as well as the THC/CBD test results before purchasing. Dispensaries should allow you to do this, so don’t hesitate. For example, my bottle was sold as 660 mg but actually contained 688 mg.

The bottle itself is made of translucent glass, muted and scuffed by a matte finish. This makes it a little hard to see the consistency of the tincture. I would have preferred standard glass to the matte glass, but this is a minor quibble.

The dropper is functional and easy to use, though the twist-off cap was a little difficult to open. Those with pain in their hands or fingers may need a caretaker’s help.

Overall, this presentation favors functionality over pretty design or new trends, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The dropper works well and the glass has a great look and feel.

NOTE: Before you buy, always be sure to look at the bottom of the bottle for any sediment or debris (you don’t want there to be any).

The Taste Test

This tincture is oil-based, made with full spectrum cannabis oil, MCT oil, organic grapeseed oil, a proprietary terpene blend … and well as yellow cake flavor extract.

This tincture will hit your tongue and nearly disappear in your mouth. But it will leave behind a lovely, sweet yellow cake aftertaste. This taste is frighteningly accurate, too. Each time I medicated it felt as though I had just finished a heaping plate of delicious birthday cake.

I didn’t note any strong terpene flavors, nor did this cannabis oil have that green leafy taste that extracts and oils can sometimes have. But there was subtle through-thread, like a dash of lemon accenting the delightful cake flavor.

If I had just one suggestion for those trying this product — try it cold. You don’t need to refrigerate the tincture, but store it in a cool place away from a heater.

When warmer, this tincture’s consistency feels a little like sloshing around a teaspoon of cooking oil in your mouth. But at cooler temps, this tincture melts in your mouth almost like butter. Even better, the oil is much more flavorful at a cooler temps.

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

The medicinal benefits noted below are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

The bottle I purchased of Butterfly Effect’s high-THC cannabis tincture contained 688 mg of THC, and 7 mg of CBD. This tincture was recommended for patients with a higher tolerance to THC. Those with a lower tolerance should try the 1:1 tinctures, with equal amounts of CBD and THC (usually around 100-200 mg each).

This tincture didn’t work right away for me. In fact, I spent the first hour or so rather disappointed. Though I did feel a very mild euphoria within the first few minutes of medicating, that feeling wore off in mere moments.

But after an hour or so, my worries about this product faded as I was hit with a proverbial wave of relaxation and restfulness. My body fell into a state of total comfort, and all I wanted to do was sleep, and sleep I did!

In fact, my watch features a sleep tracker. This allowed me to visibly see data about the benefits of this product. I was able to track how deep I was sleeping while medicating with this tincture, and noted that it allowed me to gain an additional 40-80 minutes of deep sleep.

Euphoria with this tincture is mild, at least it was for me. For those with a lower THC tolerance, this tincture may produce more euphoria. Always remember to take it slow with any edible, oil or tincture. Start with a low dose and work your way up to the dose that best suits your needs.

Even better, I also noted that inflammation and pain seemed to lessen or dull after using this tincture. And those effects, like the restfulness, lasted several hours. I normally find myself reaching for Advil by the end of the day, but this tincture replaced that dangerous drug in less than a week of use. To be honest, I’ll likely continue using this tincture as a replacement for that therapy as the results are nearly identical, and the tincture is much safer on the liver.

Final Thoughts

Butterfly Effect’s high-THC cannabis tincture is a stellar product for sleep, rest and inflammation relief. The tincture itself is very tasty, easy to use and packed with relaxation. This tincture is now my go-to sleep aid. It even replaced some over-the-counter inflammation medicines like Advil. If you’re looking for an effective tincture, look no further!

But this is the question that continues to loom over every patient in Ohio

Method of cultivation is greener, using far less water and energy than traditional grows. The facility even utilizes a proprietary LED light setup that uses less energy and speeds up his harvest time.

This strain takes a minute to work, but once it does, it only gets stronger and more intense as you continue to vape it.
