Packaging: First Impressions
HEMMA is a freshman cultivator found throughout the Buckeye State. Located out of Monroe, Ohio, this cultivator features both Tier 1 and Tier 2 cannabis, meaning that you should expect to see some higher THC strains from HEMMA down the line.
Their cannabis is contained in a clear plastic bottle that’s also recyclable. Design here is quite nice, easy to read, with a lovely logo. Patients can see the cannabis they are buying, and the bottle is (fairly) easy to open, with a squeeze-off top that is attached to the bottle itself. The top is fairly easy to close as well, with a snap that’s loaded with ASMR goodness.
Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle
Sour Banana Sherbet is a stunning cannabis strain, with a classic “hippie bud” look to it, with more defined leaves, less density and brilliant colors. Orange pistils stand out, with curly amber hues accenting the surface of the pine green leaves and the darker, almost purple underbelly.
If I had but one gripe … the buds themselves were rather brittle, often breaking up in my fingers. As I photographed these nugs, I found myself having to be extra careful not to break up the larger colas.
But if you’re looking for a nice, thick, photogenic nug, look no further. HEMMA is cultivating some rich buds for patients to enjoy.
How Does It Grind?
There were two large colas in my bottle, as well as one smaller cola. Be sure to break the colas up into more manageable pieces before you grind.
The somewhat brittle nature of this strain means that this one will grind rather quickly, and to a fairly perfect consistency for vaping.
The most surprising thing about the grind was how much dry flower was actually in my grinder after my grind. One large bud cola in my bottle yielded about 3-3.5 bowls for vaping.
Smell Before Vaping
Sour Banana Sherbet is one of those strains with a name that says it all. I noted a sweet through-thread that reminded me not of a banana itself, but more akin to the peel of a banana, with sparks of citrus and a diesel current that adds an earthy bite to the aroma. The mixture is both sweet and sour.
This strain, on the surface, almost comes off as subtle. I found myself cramming my nostrils into the bottle so I could fully immerse my mind and body in the gentle aromas. Curiously, when I left my office and returned a few minutes later, my entire room had filled with thick diesel fumes.
So while the aroma of Sour Banana Sherbet is subtly sweet and sour, it’s ability to fill whatever space it is in within moments is quite impressive.
The Taste Test
I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.
Brittle leaves can sometimes result in a dry vape that has more bite than flavor. Thankfully, this strain doesn’t quite capture those failings. Rather, patients who vape Sour Banana Sherbet will be treated to an exotic mixture of aromas that combine to create a delicious palette.
I was expecting this strain to lean sugary or sweet, but it actually transformed quite a bit when vaped. Diesel fumes take a front seat, providing a spicy, earthy core to the vaping experience. I could taste hints of ginger, so much so, it almost tasted like fresh Thai food.
There is also a subtle, but notable sweetness to the aftertaste. The aroma of banana peel translates well to flavor, providing a citrus-like burst that’s cut by floral accents, almost like magnolias.
While I still kinda wish this strain were a tad sweeter, the complex mixture of spicy, sweet and earthy terpenes is reminiscent of many tasty Asian dishes, which is an equally impressive palette to pull off with a cannabis strain.

Sour Banana Sherbet by HEMMA is a 50/50 hybrid strain, a cross of Banana Sherbet and AJ’s Sour Diesel. The bottle I purchased contained cannabis with 23% THC and 0.10% CBD.
My budtender recommended this strain for pain and inflammation relief, as well as anxiety relief. Within just a few minutes of vaping, I could feel a gentle, relaxing headband effect massaging my temples and easing its way down my spine. By the end of my first bag, I was in a highly energetic state, ready to take on the day’s tasks.
But as soon as I landed on my couch, I felt an immediate sense of relaxation and calm. Anxieties have been very high in my life lately, so the euphoria from this strain was a welcome spring away from the pressures of the day.
Inflammation in my knees and lower back also calmed, allowing me to get through my daily exercise routines.
Sour Banana Sherbet is a unique hybrid that offers an almost perfect combination of sativa and indica effects, making it a great strain for those seeking a balanced trio of euphoria, energy and relaxation.
Final Thoughts on Sour Banana Sherbet
The fact that HEMMA does such an excellent job with this, likely their freshman harvest, is quite remarkable. Though a tad brittle and leafy, Sour Banana Sherbet provides a spicy, exotic flavor and terrific medicinal value. Patients looking for a hybrid that offers balanced effects and inflammation relief should definitely toss this one into their grinder.

My 2.83 gram bottle largely consisted of two large buds. In fact, these were the two largest nugs I’ve purchased at an Ohio dispensary thus far. Both nugs were quite dense, well cured, and around the size of a thumb.
Colors here are quite spectacular. Up close, the nugs feature a beautiful array of purple accents. In fact, if you look at the grind photo below, you’ll see splashes of purple everywhere you look.
