Packaging & Honey: First Impressions

Honey by Butterfly Effect is produced by Grow Ohio, out of Zanesville. The bottle comes packed in a striking white box textured with an almost rubbery feel. Inside, there is a small recyclable plastic spoon for dosing, and the bottle itself, which appears to be similar (if not the same) as the bottles used for Calyx Peak cannabis, like Ice Cream Cake. Design and logo are in keeping with other Butterfly Effect products, like their High THC Tincture. There is also a protective seal on the bottle.

The honey itself looks as it should. There is some sediment in the tasty nectar from the kief or THC crystals. I do wish I knew what kind of honey was used – wildflower, clover (my personal favorite) or other garden honey. It would also be nice to see an organic honey get used here.

The included spoon is…helpful, but mostly useless. The design is very small, and geared more toward measuring powders. As such, the honey ends up getting trapped in the corners of the spoon. This measuring spoon is beneficial to use the first few times you dose, just to get an idea for how much you will need. Some patients will require multiple scoops, where others will require less than one scoop.

After I figured out my optimal dose, I found that a standard teaspoon would easily catch the honey without any loss, and I could eyeball an approximate amount based on the amount I used in the scoop. But be warned! Don’t take a full teaspoon on your first go — this honey is VERY potent! Be sure to pace yourself with this product.

The Taste Test

Really, there isn’t much to say here as the honey tastes exactly like honey — sweet and delicious, with gentle clover notes. I noted a mild green cannabis flavor every so often, especially when this honey was mixed into foods. I found that this nectar was at its tastiest when melted into a warm herbal tea, or taken orally as is.

Again, I do wish Butterfly Effect had offered some idea as to the source of their honey. There are a lot of Ohio honey farmers — it would be nice to see an Ohio honey used for this product.

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

This high THC cannabis-infused honey by Butterfly Effect contains 564.15 mg of THC, and just 2.07 mg of CBD. One bottle amounts to five days of your 90-day supply.

This edible was recommended for relaxation, euphoria and stress relief, and it doesn’t disappoint. The honey takes about an hour or so to begin working, but once it does, you will be treated to a gentle headband effect, and waves of potent euphoria (these will vary in strength based on dosing).

As this honey reaches its peak, it creates a relaxing sensation throughout the body, spreading from your toes to your head. In fact, I found this honey to be a terrific sleep supplement, used about an hour or so before bed — preferably mixed into a nice bedtime tea.

This honey was also recommended for its versatile dosing. One scoop of my bottle contained 6.876 mg of THC. There are roughly 80 scoops of this dose in the bottle. This means that a patient has more options with dosing. For example, if needed, a patient could take 5 scoops (34.38 mg), 1 scoop (6.876 mg) or even 10 scoops (68.76 mg) if necessary.

For newcomers, this is a great product for testing the waters. You can essentially dose as small or as large as you’d like. And since this bottle is cheaper than many edibles on the market (around $70-80), this makes Butterfly Effect’s honey as rather great option for penny-pinching medical marijuana patients.

Final Thoughts on Butterfly Effect's Honey

This honey is easily my favorite edible product on the Ohio cannabis market. Not only is Butterfly Effect’s Honey a great deal for an Ohio edible, it’s also incredibly versatile with dosing, making it a great option for newcomers, as well as heavyweights. And that’s without mentioning this honey’s potent medicinal effects, which will keep you relaxed well into the night…and possibly into the next morning! Don’t miss out on this one.

This is my 3rd jar of Butterfly effect honey… Amazing stuff!!!! And let me say that this particular jar was extremely dark and I measured out of my 1st dose of it..apx. equal to 3 tiny scoops of the scoop it comes with… And OMG!!! It was WAY to strong… I consider myself a pretty experienced cannabis user..especially edibles… I’ve seen nothing about having to stir this product(as my wife suggested) after I told her I thought I had o’d on it LOL has anyone else experienced anything like this from this product??

That sounds like a rough time! 🙁 I would start again very small, like just dip the end of the spoon into the honey to capture a tiny amount, and see how that works.

The nausea and pain gone woke up this morning and for the 1st time didnt spend an hour puking . Actually it should help with constipation. Honey is beneficial in balance intestinal bacteria the healthy bacteria in the stomach and everything it can actually cause the opposite effect of constipation if you consume to much to fast. I suggest have your husband eat some toast or something 1st…oatmeal would be great.. the mixing it in oatmeal or a warm beverage with some food may help with that and start with 1/2 to 1 scoop…you can ALWAYS take more you can NEVER take less when it comes to dosing. But give it a try with some food it should break it down more and lessen the psychoactive properties consume it slow..wait the hour and only increase by 1/2 scoop.
