Ohio Medical Marijuana Strain Review:

Grandpa's Mustache by Ancient Roots

Get That Old Timey Feel With This Hybrid!

Packaging: First Impressions

Ancient Roots is an Ohio medical marijuana cultivator located out of Wilmington, OH — near the Beavercreek or Dayton area. Packaging here is exactly the same as another Ancient Roots strain we’ve tried called Bubblegum. The presentation is a little excessive, but also charming.

Though the extra box is unnecessary and the bottle prevents patients from seeing the cannabis they are buying, I rather enjoy the boutique look of this cultivator. Perhaps they’ll switch to a clear bottle in the future.

Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle

My 2.83 gram bottle of Grandpa’s Mustache contained a few decently-sized nugs, each about medium density and a sativa-like shape.

Though a bit leafy, this strain has a rather beautiful snowy trichome structure coating each and every leaf. Pistils are creamy orange and plentiful, playfully shooting out from every crevice. And the leaves are a mixture of sage and pine greens.

This strain grinds fairly easy, and should yield about 3-5 bowls with roughly half the 2.83 allotment.

Smell Before Vaping

The aroma of Grandpa’s Mustache is gentle and fruity-sweet up close, with a very mild hint of cheese, and a funky, earthy undertone that reminded me of herbal tea. The scent is not particularly strong, nor will it fill a room like some other gassy strain, but Grandpa’s Mustache opens up a bit once ground, unearthing more of that herbal aroma.

The Taste Test

I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.

Once vaped, this strain takes on a lively earthy overtone. There’s a flavorful peppery pine through-thread that dominates the vaping experience.  As well as subtle fruity notes on the backend of my vape bag, and a mild bite mid-vape that reminded me of cinnamon.

Those sensitive to peppery or pine-centered strains may find themselves coughing a little with this one. But those who enjoy a rich, tasty cannabis strain, Grandpa’s Mustache is sure to entice. It perfectly captures the aromas and feeling of a trip to the old barber shop.

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

Grandpa’s Mustache by Ancient Roots is a 50/50 hybrid strain, containing equal parts sativa and indica. The bottle I purchased contained cannabis with 23.2% THC and 0.00% CBD.

This strain came highly recommended by another Ohio medical marijuana patient who watches our YouTube reviews, so thank you so much for the recommendation! And keep those recommendations coming, friends.

Medicinally, Grandpa’s Mustache delivers a relaxing experience from start to finish, with a soothing massage sensation felt throughout my joints and muscles, and a nice sense of euphoria that inspired both creativity and tension release.

While the sativa side of this strain makes it not as ideal for sleep, Grandpa’s Mustache is a great strain to get you going at the start of the day, or give you some energy before dinner. But don’t be surprised if you vape too much of this one and the head-heavy euphoria keeps you vegged out.

Please be aware: Percentages of THC, CBD and terpene profiles can vary greatly between cannabis harvests. This means that some strains profiled at 420oh.io will contain higher, exact or lower percentages of active chemical compounds when purchased at Ohio medical marijuana dispensaries during different harvest seasons.

We take a look at a highly recommended strain — Do-Si-Dos #22 (Dosidos 22) by Buckeye Relief. This flower is a cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Face Off OG, and she tastes quite delightful! Find it how this flower hits.

Cincinnati.com is reporting that anxiety and autism, were once again tossed out as possible new medical conditions to be added to Ohio’s medical marijuana program, but one condition was recommended to the Ohio State Medical Board: cachexia, or wasting syndrome.
