Ohio Medical Marijuana Strain Review:

NYC FLO by Buckeye Relief

Catch The Flow...

Review & Photos by: Randy Shaffer

Packaging: First Impressions

NYC FLO is a hybrid flower, a cross of NYC Chem and Flo. This flower was cultivated by Buckeye Relief out of Eastlake, Ohio. The bottle here doesn’t differ from Buckeye Relief’s current run, which includes a recently reviewed strain, Do-Si-Dos 22. The cannabis is presented in a clear plastic recyclable bottle, with an easy-open lid. You can’t get much better than that.

Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle

My 2.83 gram bottle of NYC FLO contained a few larger round nugs, as well as a few small minis. Buckeye Relief continues to improve on the quality of their flower, and NYC FLO is no different. This is a nicely cut bud with a good weight to it. The flower is not overly dried, or dusted of its trichomes.

As a result, up close, this one is a stunner, with swarms of calyx pistils shooting out from every direction, nearly bathing the greens under a light coat of burnt oranges and amber hues.

Trichomes are coated in thick resin, bonding together and caking over the pistils and leaves. While color felt somewhat sparse, lacking any saturated oranges or greens, this was likely the result of the lineage of this plant. I’ve tried this strain a few times now and it generally has a softer, muted appearance as opposed to a saturated look.

Smell Before Vaping

Once opened, NYC FLO delivers an intoxicating cherry aroma. There are also hints of lemon, fresh tobacco and pine throughout. These aromas mix into a lovely bouquet once ground — opening up the lemon and pine accents to a serious degree. For real, this one got significantly more potent after grinding, almost like a natural cleanser that’s loaded with fresh extracts.

The Taste Test

I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.

After vaping, this strain takes on a very different life from its original aroma, with a more spicy, oaky flavor dominating the palette. The pinene terpene also springs to life,  providing an earthy through-thread, accented with hints of lemon, almost like the rind rather than a sweet lemon. The spicy bite of this strain may not be for everyone’s tastes, but there’s a lot to enjoy about the robust combination of flavors here. This strain, as my father used to say, “will put hair on your chest.”

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

NYC FLO by Buckeye Relief is a 50/50 hybrid strain, containing equal parts sativa and indica. The bottle I purchased contained cannabis with 24.8% THC and 0.11% CBD.

Medicinally, NYC FLO is recommended for depression, appetite loss, stress and anxiety, as well as pain relief. This strain came strongly recommended by a member of our YouTube community, so thank you so much for the recommendation! And keep those recommendations coming, friends.

This flower was among the very first strains I tried in Ohio, and it continues to impress. There are strong waves of depression relief and anxiety relief, as well as loads of energy and creativity. Seriously, I couldn’t wait to sit down in front of my computer and just write after medicating with this one.

It cleared the head of negative energy, replacing it with productivity and a more joyful feeling. In lesser words, this flower proved excellent for stress relief, energy and efficiency. Just be sure not to medicate with this flower before bed.

Please be aware: Percentages of THC, CBD and terpene profiles can vary greatly between cannabis harvests. This means that some strains profiled at 420oh.io will contain higher, exact or lower percentages of active chemical compounds when purchased at Ohio medical marijuana dispensaries during different harvest seasons.

We take a look at Sherbhead, an uplifting, popular hybrid from Calyx Peak. aka Local Cannabis Company. You may also know this flower under the brand, Klutch Cannabis (the new owners of Calyx Peak).

The folks at RYOT recently sent us some new cleaning, grinding and storage products, so we thought we’d take some time here to go in-depth with each one. Reviews include: the KANNASTöR GR8TR Grinder, the RYOT Utility Tool & the SmellSafe Safe Case.

A patient request this week! We check out Grandpa’s Mustache by Ancient Roots, a popular cannabis cultivator out of Wilmington, Ohio. So how does this 50/50 hybrid hit? Find out!
