Packaging: First Impressions

Galenas cannabis is cultivated out of Akron, Ohio. Packaging has remained the same since launch. Cannabis comes housed in a small blue pouch about the size of a CD case. As discussed in our review of Forbidden Zkittles, packaging here is elegant and simple to use. Labeling is excellent and easy to read as well. There’s even specifics about terpene percentages, which I really appreciate. If this design were somehow able to incorporate a viewing window for patients, it would easily be among my favorites.

Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle

Sadly, I got a lot of popcorn nugs with this strain. While I don’t mind popcorn minis personally, I know that many cannabis enthusiasts like those dank, meaty nugs. This strain won’t provide that, at least the batch I obtained. Instead, patients are treated to a heaping handful of mini colas.

The look of each bud is a bit muted, with lush greens hiding beneath a flurry of milky trichomes. There are splashes of orange throughout, but not enough to alter the overall appearance of this strain dramatically.

Honestly, Lemon G isn’t the most impressive strain to observe. It doesn’t have that saturated look, nor does it have a particularly wide array of color. Lemon G is just not a stunner, and that’s OK. Not all strains need to be a circus of colors.

Lemon G - Grind

How Does It Grind?

Bud colas in my pouch were about the size of a penny or smaller. These are not particularly dense nugs, either. About 8-10 pieces will give you 1-1.5 bowls. I found that the entire 2.83 gram package gave me maybe 4-5 bowls total, which was somewhat disappointing.

Buds do grind super easy, though. In just 6-8 turns I had the perfect consistency of dry flower for vaping. Patients with pain or numbness in their hands or fingers should not have any trouble grinding this one down, either.

Smell Before Vaping

Just because a strain isn’t particularly stunning up close doesn’t mean it won’t wow when it comes to its medicinal qualities, smell or taste. Such is the case here with this sweet, lemony cannabis.

Lemon G lives up to its name. It is a proverbial treasure to inhale. That strong citrus scent is like freshly squeezed lemons, softly accented by a hint of pine that lingers on the nostrils for a few moments after enjoying this strain’s sweet aroma. There’s also a subtle floral thread that adds a delicious undercurrent to the sugary notes.

Lemon G might not have been much to look at, but I wish I could bottle and sell this strain’s aroma — it’s absolutely delightful.

The Taste Test

I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.

Lemon G opens up even further upon vaping. This strain won’t shock you or surprise in terms of flavor. The lemony sweetness of the cannabis aroma translates very well here, accented by pine notes and a strong floral current that reminded me of a spring garden.

There’s a strong burst of citrus complemented by a dazzling floral accent that finishes with just a slight hint of heat, like a spicy pepper. This strain won’t burn your tongue, but you may find yourself fighting back a mild cough with each exhalation.

Later bags of this strain reveal more floral accents, like lavender and magnolia. Even better, the lavender remains on the taste buds for several minutes after vaping. The lemon through-thread exists throughout the experience, but peaks early on, dissipating with each fill of my vape bag. But this allows additional flavors to dance to the surface. Frankly, this is now one of my favorite strains to vape in Ohio for pure flavor. I just can’t get enough of it!

Lemon G would be best paired with a sweet desert wine, red or white, as well as any citrus drink. But my recommendation would be something with pineapple, like a pineapple-orange juice. Delicious!

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

Lemon G by Galenas is a sativa strain. The 2.83 gram pouch that I purchased contained cannabis with 25% THC and 0.0% CBD.

I had previously tried a few other Galenas strains, including Purple Bomb, and was fairly impressed with their offerings. My budtender recommended I try out Lemon G for the robust flavor (of which I can attest), as well as energetic bursts and tension relief.

This strain is a creeper. I felt very little after vaping my first bag, but that slowly transformed as a relaxing headband effect rolled over my temples, soothing tension and easing my anxiety. By the middle of my second bag of Lemon G, I was feeling a calming full body effect that radiated throughout my legs, which had been worn from exercise the day before.

I also felt a creeping sense of energy. At first, I felt lethargic, but soon I wanted to dance and exercise, and take on the day’s more difficult tasks.

This strain didn’t seem to disrupt my sleep, either. Quite the contrary! I felt relaxed in both my mind and body, which gently eased me into slumber.

Either way you cut it, this one is a knockout. Lemon G’s tasty terpenes created an excellent entourage effect in combination with the THC and other active chemicals (this strain contains .6% CBGA) that worked to provide energy during the day, and relaxation at night.

Final Thoughts on Lemon G

Lemon G by Galenas might not be the prettiest strain, but it’s a great sativa for subtle bursts of energy and creativity, and softening muscles and easing tension. It’s also one of Ohio’s tastiest strains, with a lemon sweetness and a refreshing floral aftertaste that lasts long after you’ve vaped. If you see this one in dispensaries, check it out!

Please be aware: Percentages of THC, CBD and terpene profiles can vary greatly between cannabis harvests. This means that some strains profiled at 420oh.io will contain higher, exact or lower percentages of active chemical compounds when purchased at Ohio medical marijuana dispensaries during different harvest seasons.

Greens and oranges are hidden under a thick layer of creamy trichomes. These trichomes mute color quite a bit, but their stickiness suggests plenty of active chemical compounds.

Euphoria comes in strong bursts of energy that helped get me through the day, completing chores and last minute tasks. This one is great for focus, but won’t keep you up at night.
