Ohio Medical Marijuana Strain Review:
DosiFace by
Calyx Peak
The Folks At Calyx Peak Continue To Amaze...
Review & Photos by: Randy Shaffer
Packaging: First Impressions
DosiFace is cultivated by Calyx Peak, out of Akron, Ohio. Calyx Peak actually goes by a few different brand names, including Josh D, Song and a new brand, Local Cannabis Company. It would seem the Song brand is slowly being phased out in favor of the Local Cannabis Co. brand. Alas, my bottle of DosiFace was still bottled under the old name, Song. Like all Calyx Peak bottles, the design is simplistic and functional. That said, the bottle is a bit large for 2.83 grams, but is recyclable, though, and is reusable and fairly easy to open.
Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle
Nugs in my bottle were about the size of a nickel, with one or two larger nugs and a few smaller nugs. Up close, this strain is surprisingly dull, with creamy orange-tinted trichomes covering the surface, hiding any striking greens from the leaves, or piercing oranges from the pistils.
The buds are sticky to the touch, though this strain felt very dry on the fingers. I’ve actually been seeing a lot of complaints from cannabis patients about overly dry flower from cultivators. This is often due to a quick drying process, and to ensure there are no molds on the strain. If you encounter dry cannabis, be sure to pick up a humidity pack, like Boveda. A good 62% pack should revitalize your cannabis in no time.
How Does It Grind?
Bud colas in my bottle were not particularly dense. About five nugs translated to 2-3 bowls. My bottle contained 14 nugs.
The nugs ground down to a powdery consistency in only a few turns. I wasn’t super happy with this consistency, so I suggest throwing this one into your grinder and giving it only one or two turns, check your consistency, and turn again if you need to turn some more.
Smell Before Vaping
In terms of aroma, DosiFace offers up a unique palette that reminded me of a fall walk around a pond. There’s strong pine notes that offer a lovely through-thread to the strain’s earthy undertones. There’s also a hint of lavender, accented by a sweet and sour current of citrus or grape. The aroma is not overly powerful, so don’t expect it to fill a room, but up close this strain is a delight to experience.
The Taste Test
I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.
The aroma of DosiFace is translated well, with a strong earthy flavor that tastes almost like baked bread, raw oats or even chocolate powder. This is followed by a gentle floral trough-thread, accented by a subtle citrusy aftertaste, that again reminded me of grapes.
While I tend to prefer sweeter tasting cannabis strains, I was shocked by how well this strain translated its aroma to flavor. I’ve tried quite a few earthy cannabis strains over the years, but this one really nails the taste, creating the perfect strain to complement a good hike through the woods.
Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted
Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.
DosiFace by Calyx Peak is a hybrid strain, a cross of Face Off OG and Do Si Dos. The bottle I purchased contained cannabis with 24.84% THC and 0.08% CBD.
My medical marijuana patient consultant suggested I give this strain a try for relaxation, sleep, anxiety relief and mental unwinding.
DosiFace leans a bit on the sativa side of things, starting off with a fairly powerful wave of euphoria, followed by a burst of energy. The longer I vaped this strain, however, the more the indica features took over, softening tension.
Admittedly, I was hoping for a little more relaxation from this strain. Rather, I found myself very excitable and cognitively stimulated for the first hour. That wasn’t a bad thing, just not what I expected.
That said, once this strain settled into my joints and muscles, I started to feel a bit more relief from pain and stress. Used in combination with a high THC tincture or edible might prove beneficial for sleep. All told, I found that this strain inspired creativity and high brain activity, and had me wanting to move and create more than relax and unwind.
That’s not to say this strain doesn’t have a lot to offer. Far, far from it. Just measure your expectations and go into this one expecting energy, fun and excitement, followed by a mild feeling of relaxation.
Final Thoughts on DosiFace
DosiFace isn’t quite the gem that is Calyx Peak’s Orange 43, but it is a wonderfully tasty strain offering an earthy flavor and a good amount of energy and cognitive enhancement. This strain would be great for a nice long hike, or before an exciting movie.

Please be aware: Percentages of THC, CBD and terpene profiles can vary greatly between cannabis harvests. This means that some strains profiled at 420oh.io will contain higher, exact or lower percentages of active chemical compounds when purchased at Ohio medical marijuana dispensaries during different harvest seasons.
A solid late afternoon strain. It’s got a great aroma, a robust flavor, and enough light and energy within to get you through the end of your day, relaxed and recharged.
Method of cultivation is greener, using far less water and energy than traditional grows. The facility even utilizes a proprietary LED light setup that uses less energy and speeds up his harvest time.
A real stunner up close, with a rich array of colors, from bright amber hues to inky pine greens. Each cola lives up to its name, accented by an explosion of deep, rich purples.
