We’re quickly rounding into fall now. The leaves are even starting to turn in Cleveland and Akron. Just a few trees for now, but soon there will a bounty of orange and yellow leaves decorating your morning commute, or weekend hikes. Are the leaves turning in Columbus yet? For now, we’ve got two cannabis events and an unfortunate cancellation to discuss this week, so let’s dive right in!
Cancelled Event - Columbus - September 14 2019:
Ohio Marijuana Expo - Columbus

We’ve already mentioned this cancellation in a previous post, so we’ll keep things brief. Ohio Marijuana Expo was expected to host an event on Saturday, August 17th 2019. That event was pushed to September 14th before being cancelled entirely. Despite some big names and key vendors, the event, hosted by Ohio Marijuana Card, had seen a steep decline in attendance.
This is very sad news as the Ohio Marijuana Expo series was the largest event series in the state, and an exciting opportunity for patients, insiders and vendors to celebrate Ohio medical cannabis. Who will take their place and host a large scale cannabis event in the Buckeye State in 2020? Hopefully Ohio medical marijuana patients and advocates will get to see an expo of this size and spirit again in the near future.
Akron - September 11 2019:
Lunch & Learn - Guns & Marijuana in the Workplace

Ohio medical marijuana law can be tricky, especially when it comes to cannabis in the workplace, as well as cannabis and firearms. This Lunch & Learn, hosted by the Akron Area Board of Realtors, will outline to businesses what to expect from this new cannabis law, as well as workplace enforcement and guns and cannabis.
This is not likely to be the friendliest crowd when it comes to cannabis advocacy. But that doesn’t mean it couldn’t use an advocate on hand to be a voice for Ohioans with medical marijuana cards, not to mention a voice for the cannabis plant. Just be sure to be civil and friendly, and have a fun time!
Columbus - September 16 2019:
Medical Cannabis & Hemp in the Buckeye State

When: Monday, Sept 16, 2019, from 8:30am – 4pm

This is not just a basic educational event, but a full blown full-day forum detailing both the medical marijuana industry and the emerging hemp industry — two of Ohio’s most promising business ventures! This event, hosted by BioOhio, will include a slew of cannabis and hemp professionals, researches, doctors, scientists, botanists, manufacturers and more.
In addition to insiders, there will be members of Governor DeWine’s Cabinet, including chief regulators from the Ohio Department of Commerce, Ohio Board of Pharmacy, Ohio Medical Board, Ohio Department of Public Safety, and the Ohio Department of Agriculture. This will be the perfect event for advocates and insiders looking to spend a day schmoozing alongside Ohio’s lawmakers, regulators, cannabis professionals and more.
