Poochie Love is cultivated by Buckeye Relief out of Eastlake, Ohio. My 14.15 gram bulk container was not unlike other Buckeye Relief containers, though my bottle of Island Girl was white and this bottle was black. Both strains were sativa, so I’m not sure why some containers differ in color. Not a big deal, but it seems oddly inconsistent. I’ve also seen completely different BR containers but have yet to get my hands on them. Outside of that very minor gripe, this container is…fine. It can sometimes pop open, or fail to seal completely, which can be a little annoying.
Hopefully we’ll see these containers phased out at some point. But until that time, it does the trick, though it might disappoint some.
Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle
Sadly, there were not any large nugs in my bottle, only popcorn minis and nickel-sized buds. This isn’t the end of the world, but I would have loved to photograph a larger cola.
Up close, Poochie Love is a stunning little flower, with thick amber and red pistils standing out, and a slight yellow hue to the trichomes and leaves.
Buds are moderately dense, and grind a little sticky, but should reach a nice consistency with only a few turns of your grinder.
Smell Before Vaping
The aroma of Poochie Love is surprisingly sweet, almost like powdered sugar or candied orange. This is a relief as this strain’s cross, Dog Shit, is infamously, well…stinky.
This strain, thankfully, is much nicer on the nostrils, though not quite as tropical as Buckeye Relief’s Island Girl. In fact, I was reminded of that fresh, saccharin sweet scent of a candy store when sniffing this one. Once ground, this strain opens up a little more, with a mild earthy undercurrent and just a hint of spice, like fresh ground cinnamon.
The Taste Test
I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.
Once vaped, Poochie Love takes on a more earthy language, with the sweeter overtones of the aroma taking a backseat, relegated to the aftertaste of this strain. There is a nice swirl of citrus zest to be had when inhaling this vape, but I was surprised by the potent sour diesel-like bite this one offered with each inhalation.
The floral accents really open up the longer you vape this one, as well as the spicy, cinnamon-like notes, which rise to the surface, adding a lovely fall vibe to the overarching flavor. While I would have loved just a touch more of that saccharin sweet aroma to shine through when vaped, I quite enjoyed this strain’s complex flavor profile.

Poochie Love is a sativa strain, a cross of the strains known as Dog Shit and Face Off OG. My bottle contained cannabis with 27.5% THC and 0.00% CBD.
This strain was recommended for its increased focus, anxiety relief, as well as uplifting head-heavy euphoria.
I vaped this strain first-thing, having been instructed to try this strain in the morning. My budtender didn’t lead me astray, either. Poochie Love goes to work right away, easing tension and increasing mental focus. Like a double shot of espresso, I felt a rush of intense energy that made me ready to take on the day’s chores, exercise, and find time for some artistic projects.
Euphoria with this strain comes on strong as well, with a headband effect that eases its way around the temples and eyes, creating a soothing massage sensation on the forehead. This is followed by significant waves of happiness and joy, as well as mental engagement.
Unfortunately, I found that the euphoric effects didn’t last very long, often dissipating before I’d finish a vape bag. That said, the increased focus lasted for several hours. Can’t complain about that!
Final Thoughts on Poochie Love
Poochie Love is an great early morning pick-me-up strain to get you energized and focused, with a nice bit of euphoria to start the day. It’s also got a sweet odor and a complex earthy flavor when vaped. If you’re in the market for an uplifting sativa, you might want to give this flower a try.
