Ohio Medical Marijuana Strain Review:

Rainbow Chip by Bullseye Gardens (aka Farkas Farms)

My New Ohio Medical Marijuana Favorite!

Review & Photos by: Randy Shaffer

Packaging: First Impressions

Rainbow Chip is cultivated by Farkas Farms out of Akron, Ohio. The strain is sold under the brand Bullseye Gardens. Their flower is packaged in a gray pouch. Frankly, I’m really hoping to see Farkas Farms change this package at some point. These types of pouches can lead to crushed or flattened bud, or trichome loss during transportation.

That said, this pouch did keep things fresh. I could not smell this strain until I cut open the seal. It hissed, and out poured a lovely bouquet of aromas. More on that in a bit.

Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle

My 2.83 gram pouch of Rainbow Chip contained one very large cola, as well as two quarter-sized nugs and one mini. These buds, quite sadly, were a little pressed, but not so much that they were broken or featureless. The buds themselves were perfectly trimmed and cured, and nice and sticky to the touch.

Nugs are coated in thick trichomes with varying shades of milky cream, and appear yellowish under the light. The frost smothers much of the strain’s color, save for the occasional pine green splash, or sparks of amber or burnt orange from the pistils.

While not a colorful stunner, it’s clear from the sticky trichomes and thick density of the bud that this strain has a lot to offer.

Smell Before Vaping

The aroma of Rainbow Chip is straight fire, delivering a unique palette of intense terpenes that tease the senses!

The first notes hit hard with intoxicating floods of citrus and pine, followed by a minty burst. The longer I took in this strain, I detected a hint of cheese, and a slight herbal or earthy undertone, which opens up further once ground.

There’s also a diesel-like gassy aroma that awakens after grinding this flower. It can fill a room in mere minutes, so light some candles if you live in an apartment.

The Taste Test

I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.

Once vaped, this strain continues to deliver an absolutely stunning experience, with tasty citrus striking the tongue, and a potent pine bite that leads to a long-lasting minty fresh aftertaste. There’s an earthy through-thread that balances the palette throughout, and a nice diesel finish. I also noted more hints of cheese, like a sharp cheddar. Just extraordinary what this strain has to offer!

Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.

Rainbow Chip is a 50/50 hybrid strain, a cross of Sunset Sherbet and Mint Chocolate Chip. The bottle I purchased contained cannabis with 29% THC and 0.08% CBD.

A few weeks ago someone commented on our Youtube page and suggested I try Rainbow Chip. And I was so glad to nab this one at my local dispensary while it was still in stock.

Medicinally, this strain is known for its intense euphoria, stress relief and mental awareness. Because Rainbow Chip provides a nice even hybrid, there’s also ample sedative effects as the flower wears off.

This strain hits hard right from the start, with mind-bending waves of euphoria that begin in the head trailing down through the joints the longer you vape. The experience I had with this one was intense, and I’m not a lightweight! I felt my stress wash away, and my mind kick into high gear.

Rainbow Chip’s perfect blend of indica and sativa, and a delectable terpene palette, provide the full gamut of what cannabis has to offer, from intense euphoria at the start to mental engagement midway through, finishing with a sedative relaxation that’s perfect for vegging out or sleeping. This one’s a knockout for anxiety and stress!

Final Thoughts on Rainbow Chip

Rainbow Chip is now my absolute favorite medical marijuana strain in Ohio! It’s perfectly cured, smells amazing and tastes great. And the medicinal experience is absolutely first-rate, with a strong euphoric rush at the beginning, and a deeply relaxing finish. Don’t pass this one up if you see it.
