Packaging: First Impressions
Strawberry Cough is cultivated by Pure Ohio Wellness out of Springfield, Ohio. Pure Ohio has dramatically changed their bottles since my last profile of their cannabis, switching from a black bottle to a clear bottle. This recyclable container is a major improvement. It can be easily opened by pinching either side, and it is very easy to see the cannabis before you buy. Logo and design have also been modified, favoring a modern clinical aesthetic.Though the bottles are a bit large for 2.83 grams, this is a great, functional redesign that should please patients.
Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle
The appearance of these nugs is … ok. Strawberry Cough has an overly saturated look to it, with pistils coating the green leaves in red and orange hues. Trichomes are loaded all over these nugs. They reflect the amber from the pistils and appear almost yellow to the eye, like mustard.
The nugs themselves lean a little small in the bottle, with the largest cola being about the size of a quarter. Most nugs were minis, about the size of a dime.
How Does It Grind?
About 6-7 minis yielded roughly 3 bowls of cannabis flower for vaping. The grind was simple and easy, with little difficulty. The nugs are slightly sticky to the touch, but not so much that you’ll need a caretaker if your hands or fingers suffer from chronic pain.
Smell Before Vaping
Strawberry Cough lives up to its name with an aroma that leans heavy on berry notes, with a subtle diesel bite and a sugary through thread that reminded me of a fresh cut grapefruit.
There is also a very mild pine scent. This aroma pushes the sweeter notes to the surface. Frankly, I was in love with how this one smelled. I couldn’t get enough of its rich, sweet aroma.
The Taste Test
I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.
Strawberry Cough doesn’t taste quite as nice as it smells, but sometimes that happens. Once vaped, Strawberry Cough leans a little more on the diesel flavor, with gassy fumes stunning from the very first hit almost through to the very last. The sugary sweetness of the aroma is more subtle here, with an aftertaste that did remind me of the fresh scent of strawberries.
But the spiciness of this cannabis comes alive, dominating over any sweeter notes. This results in a strain with a somewhat floral or herby palette. It’s not bad by any stretch. In fact, it’s very tasty. But it was something of a letdown compared to the aroma. That aftertaste was choice, though! Strawberry Cough indeed.
Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted

Strawberry Cough by Pure Ohio Wellness is a sativa strain. The bottle I purchased contained cannabis with 23.9% THC and 0.1% CBD.
My medical marijuana patient consultant told me that this strain was one of their most popular. They suggested its uses would include euphoria, anxiety relief and energy.
And they weren’t kidding! This strain delivers ample amounts of euphoria and energy, with a gentle headband effect that soothes the senses.
Euphoria with this strain is strong, but not incapacitating. I felt a pulsing headband effect that radiated and intensified as I neared the end of my vaping experience. The effects of this euphoric state did not last very long for me, perhaps only an hour or so. But that euphoria eventually translates to energy.
I could feel a strong wave wash over me after vaping my first bag of Strawberry Cough. This energy allowed me to get through some tough errands, and exercise when I was finished. It also heightened my senses, freeing my mind of anxiety, allowing me to focus on important tasks.
Used before bed, this strain will likely get your mind racing about the next day’s tasks. Unless you like a sativa before bed, I wouldn’t recommend this one for sleep. As such, I’d suggest using this strain in the early mornings, or after work.
Final Thoughts on Strawberry Cough
Strawberry Cough in an energetic, sweet smelling strain loaded with waves of euphoria and energy. Fans of mentally engaging sativa strains should check this one out while it’s still on dispensary shelves.
