Ohio Medical Marijuana Strain Review:
1oth Planet by
Galenas
Will This Strain Take You To The Stars?
Review & Photos by: Randy Shaffer
Packaging: First Impressions
10th Planet is cultivated by Galenas out of Akron, Ohio. You can check out our exclusive tour of their facility during this strain’s cultivation!
Packaging here remains the same as other Galenas strains, though the details on the back of the pouch have greatly increased, allowing patients to see the various terpene profiles. These terpenes are extracts found within the cannabis plant that deliver both subtle food-like flavors and powerful medical effects. Knowing what terpenes are in each strain can help patients choose which flower is right for them. I wish other cultivators did the same with their strains as Galenas does here. It’s super helpful.
Cannabis Look: Out of the Bottle
This strain delivered an indica-like punch (more on that below), but the buds in my pouch had a sativa torpedo-like thinness to them.
Up close, this strain is simply dazzling, with bright purples peaking out through the rich layers of amber pistils. Trichomes are striking and very sticky, covering the colas in a snowy frost.
Smell Before Vaping
I love a cannabis with a sweet citrus vibe, and 10th Planet did not disappoint. The aroma of 10th Planet is quite strong, though, so be warned. This one can fill a room with its gassy, diesel aroma rather quickly.
Upon further inspection, there’s strong notes of sweet grape filtering through the skunky exterior, with a mild citrus bite that reminded me of grapefuit.
The Taste Test
I vaped this medical cannabis with an Arizer ExtremeQ vaporizer. I like to start my first bag at a lower temperature to open the terpenes, and work up to a higher temp to vaporize the cannabinoids.
10th Planet starts off a bit skunky when first vaped. There’s a slight bite that may induce some coughs, followed by a mild citrus aftertaste. The longer I vaped this strain, the more pronounced the candy-like grape flavor became. By my third bag, my palette was filled with juicy sweet notes and a mild diesel aftertaste.
This strain reminds me a lot of Forbidden Fruit, and that’s a good thing! I love a sweet tasting cannabis strain, and 10th Planet delivers a strong, sweet citrus flavor.
Medicinal Benefits and Side Effects I Noted
Note: The medicinal benefits noted in this strain profile are for educational purposes only, and are not a substitute for the advice of a medical practitioner or licensed budtender.
10th Planet by Galenas is a hybrid strain, a cross of Planet of the Grapes and Quattro Kush. This strain was recommended for its creative euphoria, sedative qualities, anti-inflammatory properties and sleep aide.
10th Planet is a strong strain, so expect a wave of euphoria when you first vape this one. Right after my first hit, I was treated to a delightful headband effect that massaged my temples and eased tension.
Pain and inflammation was greatly reduced with this strain, especially in my feet, which had been inflamed after a long hike. My headache, however, got a little amplified, so I wouldn’t recommend this strain for headaches or migraines.
10th Planet delivers a lot of euphoria at first, but this sensation dissipates over time, relaxing muscles and soothing the mind before bed.
I’d highly recommend this one for those looking to unwind after a stressful day. But be warned, there’s a lot of euphoria at first. That said, the relaxation effects that follow are outstanding.
Final Thoughts on 10th Planet
10th Planet is a candy-coated world of delightfully sweet flavors that will start off strong with a euphoric headband effect before relaxing the muscles and easing you off to bed. Give this strain a try if you’re seeking a soothing late night strain with a rush of calming euphoria.
Please be aware: Percentages of THC, CBD and terpene profiles can vary greatly between cannabis harvests. This means that some strains profiled at 420oh.io will contain higher, exact or lower percentages of active chemical compounds when purchased at Ohio medical marijuana dispensaries during different harvest seasons.
